I jsut want to share how happy I am for Ellen. I believe that the love between two people should be ackowledged regardless of sexual inclinations.
I just ask myself, why is it Ellen Degeneres is far more endearing that Rosie O' Donnel. If Rosie made that announcement I'd probalbly just say,"ok ok.. next..."
As I was browsing through the internet, I came across an article wherein a girl goes into an experiment to find out if men prefer curly hair or straight hair. She puts up two profiles: one with curly hair and the other with straight hair; sure enough, there were more winks, more emails, on the straight haired profile. This drove me to ask my male friends which they preferred and why it mattered. They didn’t go into the details of why but just said that it did matter; and most of them were in accordance with the response to the straight haired profile. An online competition website has a Best Hair Ever category and (guess what?) entries were of different colored hair but ALL of them were straight.
So why do men like straight hair? Here are some reasons that I could only speculate upon…
It looks neat and clean.Straight hair looks like a well-ironed shirt.Who would want to leave the house wearing crumpled shirt, right?
Men like running their fingers through a girl’s hair. When a man runs his fingers through a girl’s hair, it’s erotic. With straight haired girls, it goes smoothly, softly, though the hair caressing the scalp and fingers getting tickled but the thin strands that mesh in and out of a man’s fingers. With curly hair, it stops short.Their fingers go through and meet tangles caused by the natural curliness of the girl’s hair. Accidentally, because of the resistance caused by the tangles he inadvertently pulls her hair. What does he do? Say sorry when he was trying to reach out and touch? Hell no… suffice it say it would be a very awkward moment.
Straight is sweet and virginal.I mean really.Straight haired girls even from my perception look so sweet and virginal unless of course they’re all covered with tattoos and have nose rings or what have you. They’re prom queen and cheerleader incarnate. What guy wouldn’t want to go out with the prom queen or the cheerleader? It’s the perfect kind of girl to bring home to mom.And even if they’re not sweet and virginal they could always hide behind their straight hair.
It’s cultural. As mentioned in the article, people from different cultures have different preferences and the culture that has a greater majority for that particular characteristic seems to prefer the norm.So if the culture has more straights than curlys then they would like curly because that is the standard or vice versa.Maybe….
Because of their preference and for the speculative reasons I have given a lot of curly haired girls I know have gone out of their way to have their hair straightened on a semi-long term basis or have married themselves to the flat iron or their blowers. I personally prefer an au naturelle and for me that means curly.Love me love my curly hair.Honestly, I had been told by so many to straighten it.But I am proud of my mane and I carry it with confidence.Just a tip for the guys, curly haired girls are wilder and I bet some of you will attest to it. ;P
This week has been one of the most hectic weekends ever.Apart from work piling up because of failing health, personal issues with family are cropping up that honestly I do not need right now.Let’s hope that the coming week will prove to be a better, calmer and more peaceful one.
We love Sex and the City for one reason: they represented stereotypes of single women that most women can relate too. This is the reason why it became such a hit, because it represented a little bit of every woman in America.I know of some people who are affronted by the very existence of Charlotte, Miranda, Carrie and Samantha, claiming that the four characters give a wrong representation of American women.Be that as it may, the point of the matter all four characters is a part of all women, not just in the US but all over the world. We all have our Charlottes, Mirandas, Carries and even Samanthas inside us.Let me tell you why…..
Charlotte York.Charlotte York is our favorite goody two shoes prom queen. She’s perfect – pretty, smart, educated and decent. The kind of girl you bring home to mom.In the show, she represents the conservative woman, who follows the rules of love, relationships and dating. She tries her best not to go against the standards of society and thus believes that sex should always be connected with love and not lust; and that relationships should ultimately end in marriage.
Every woman is brought up the way Charlotte was with regards to love and relationships.Somewhere along the line we turn into a Miranda, a Carrie or a Samantha but charlotte is the foundation stereotype which we all can relate too…We sometimes hate her for being able to stand by the rules or love her for what she represents. But what makes her character real is the fact that she can be naughty too… controlled naughtiness but naughtiness nevertheless and that’s what makes her tick for all of us.
Miranda Hobbes.Miranda Hobbes is the successful and self-made woman who worked her ass off to become a lawyer and to become a good one at that.Among the four girls, she’s the very first one who was able to get her own flat. She’s smart, successful, beautiful, and is an achiever.Although these are all good points, as far as men are concerned, these are all turn-offs.It is a slight on their machismo.Another problem is that Miranda’s own standards are very high.Remember how she held back with Steve because he was a bartender?
Well, for us working women, this may be an issue we share with Miranda. There are just some men who are intimidated with a successful woman and this can prove to be an obstacle for us who maybe looking for Mr. Right.
Samantha Jones.Samantha Jones is the woman we love to hate. She’s too liberal. She’s very comfortable with her sexuality and is willing to try anything under the sun. Some would say she’s a thrill seeker and some would say that she is just plain immoral. If we cannot relate to her, she’s definitely the woman we’re all afraid of.She seems to be the type that will take our man away. And yet, we see that she’s one of the most loyal to her friends. It doesn’t matter if Charlotte disagrees with her, in time of Charlotte’s needs she’s there. We also see that despite that hard exterior she’s one compassionate woman. So we can’t fully hate her can we?
Carrie Bradshaw.Carrie is the combination of all 3 and the fulcrum of the story. She’s very career oriented. She’s comfortable with her sexuality as well and is willing to have sex for lust sake. But although she may deny it, deep down inside she’s a Charlotte. She wants to walk down the aisle, not as a bridesmaid, but as a bride.Because she has all these qualities, she’s the one who always tries to analyze the situation. She tries to figure out her existence especially with regards to love and sex. With her we can most relate for it is her that sees the true issues that we women go through.
We are all in a state of Carrie where we see our friends behave, we see the world behave and we try and figure out how we place in all of this.We try to balance our Charlottes, Samanthas and Mirandas and hope that we can find out own Mr. Big who’ll eventually marry us.And even if we don’t we’re in state where we’ll always be pining for Mr. Big, even when we have a nice secure Aidan with us.
So how can we hate Sex and the City?Hating it would be tantamount to hating our friends, sisters and ultimately ourselves – and that can never happen.
Enough of Matt. I need to take a break from talking about him, well, not really because I hate him, just thought my world doesn't need to revolve around him. Just found this from a friend (not Matt).
U.S. psychologists found people with high IQs might be able to remember more than the four objects an average person can store in short-term memory. That ability, said a University of Oregon Psychology professor, varies from person to person, but an invidividual's capacity of short-term memory is a strong predictor of their IQ and scholastic development.
One hypothesis psychologists have considered is that memory capacity might be influenced by the complexity of items being stored. The researchers discovered that even when very complex had to be remembered, people were able to hold four items in active memory.
Knowing the number of things a person can remember tells you nothing about how clear a person's memory may be. So even though people with high IQs can think about more things at once, there are no guarantees about how good those memories are.
Ok folks I am obsessing.I can’t help it.I didn’t really realize how much I like this guy Matt. There was just so many things wrong with the situation which is the reason why I held back.Right guy at the wrong time – that’s the gist of it all.And now he’s gone. To Singapore. Forever.
Ok fine, the forever part may be a bit melodramatic but truly what are the chances that we will get an opportunity to be together. What’s the chance he’ll give me another chance?I feel like writing an e-mail but I just can’t seem to see the point anymore.During the time he was here, there were just so many miscommunications that I bet he’s made up his mind as to what kind of person I am.And even if I do vindicate and redeem myself in the letter, he’s in Singapore and I’m in California. How could that possibly work? And with all this, I still vacillate and hope. Finally, I have written down this list as to why long distance relationships won’t work… to convince myself to let it go, to move on and to keep sane…
1.Lack of Visual Reinforcement.Even if you communicate over the net or even go out of your way to spend hundreds of dollars on phone bills, the fact that you don’t see each other loosens the connection between two people.Better to talk about sweet nothings while giving each other googly eyes or seeing the reaction on your partners face when you say, I love you.Talking over the phone doesn’t compensate for that special look or that warm smile.Eventually with the distance there even is tendency you can’t remember certain features in your partners face. You forget. Then there are other faces that you see which you can talk to as well.So it becomes a matter of preference between talking on the phone and talking to a person face to face.I think the face to face is the obvious winner, don’t you think so?
2.Lack of Physical Contact.A lot of people say that love should go beyond the need for sex. That’s a load of crap.Maybe when the relationship becomes far deeper a simple hug will suffice but sex is a physical need of a human being. It can be controlled but cannot be eradicated. So here you are and there he is.You talk over the phone but you cannot reinforce whatever it is that you feel for each other by expressing it through physical contact – holding hands, a hug, kissing and ultimately sex. Then there’s that loneliness….. Again there are other people there… physically there…. The temptation is just great...And mind you, you’re not the only nice person in the world.Granted you are unique, but they’re unique in their own way too….
3.Distance makes the heart grow colder.I mean really, calls become expensive and there are other things to do in the area that you are in.The time factor decreases the longer you stay away from each other and with no time and presence it is but logical that you will drift apart.Definitely, there are people who would be interested in you in your area and your partner in his area. You move one and you adjust to his absence. The more you adjust the more he disengages in your life and you in his. That’s the way it works. That’s the reality of it all.
I am not saying that all long distance relationships don’t work.As a matter of fact, this list I made is a cooler. My closest friends, Grace and JP, had a long distance relationship. They encountered all these problems but it is only by the strength of their bond and their love that they were able to survive.I wish I could have that too…. But the reality of it is… not everybody is like Grace and JP.A lot of celebrities experience that too and they survive. The reality is Matt and I have not reached a level of connection that will last the test of distance. The reality is there is only a very small percentage that long distance relationships work smoothly.Oh well… they do say that if you let him go and he comes back then it’s meant to be.I hate to be all mushy and corny but I suppose in this case, that’s the only thing I can look forward to… or maybe somebody else will come along…. Hopefully….
I had to ask some of my older women friends about this.It seems to be common knowledge that women mature sooner than men do which is the reason the reason why younger women have a tendency to be with an older man. However, it seems to be more common to see older women with younger men.So why is this so?
Older women look so much younger nowadays. People say that the new 40 is 60 so 40 years of life is definitely one foxy time for 40 year old women. They look quite good and are more conscious of their health and fitness than ever before. Some of the hottest women in the world are 40 years old and above. So when you see a 40 year old woman, they now truly represent wisdom and beauty.
Women reach their sexual peak during their mid-30s to 40s.A 40 year old man told me that the reason why he goes for younger women is that it’s harder please an older one – apart from knowing their sexuality and expecting it to be satisfied, older women are at their sexual peak and their sexual needs can hardly be met by the older man who’s peaking over his sexuality.I could only deduce and I think I am quite correct with this, that older women go for younger men because of their endurance and fortitude in bed; at the same time, the younger man who benefits from the learning is eager to try and please the needs of the older woman, in the process learning from their experiences and the sexuality of women which younger ones will not be able to provide.
Younger men are available. How many men over their 30s are unmarried? The best of them are and so when you’re 40 and you’re single, you are presented with a whole gamut of young men and a very low ratio of older men and a tad bit of the ancient. So given this, isn’t it more probable that older women would end up with younger men? Of course, and with the reasons mentioned above, I think both younger man and older woman would have a splendid time together.
We threw a going away party for Matt and I have to say it was one of the best parties ever.Of course, there was a lot of sentimentality but I guess that goes with getting all happy and drunk.
As I try to recall the party over the weekend, I can’t help but smile. It made me recall all the parties and the drunken moments that I’ve experienced.
I have to say, there were a lot more when I was younger since at that time I went abroad and the legal age for drinking was much younger.
I actually remember a time when I was in college abroad and my friends and I drank some alcoholic beverages during lunch knowing full well we had a theology class after lunch.Sure enough, I went to class intoxicated and stayed at the back of the room so as to avoid detection.Bad part was, I was so talkative and I was stating my religious views with so much conviction. The good thing about it was the professor thought I was very profound in my thoughts. My friends had to control themselves from falling of their chairs laughing.I’d have to say, that was one of my best drunken moments.
Matt is leaving for Singapore. He got a job offer and he accepted. I don't really know how to feel about this right now... Somehow I feel a bit sad that our relationship or non-relationship for that matter wasn't really able to bloom to its wonderful potential but at the same time I feel somewhat relieved that the holding pattern that we have been in for some time has finally ended.
Maybe it’s just not time for us to be together or maybe we’re just not meant to be together…
I’ll tell you something though this is absolutely new to me… This is one of those things that you will forever wonder “what if”… then we’ll bump into each other sometime in the future and ask ourselves “what if.”I have tried my best always to take the bull by its horns so that I will never wonder later what if… but somehow I just couldn’t do it with Matt… somehow it was one of those situations that I just had to allow to take its course with no interference… SIGH!
Oh Ricky… I totally forgot to tell you… he turned out to be an ass… enough said.
Well…. Good luck to Matt! We’ll see what the future holds for us…. Oh gosh… the proof of catatonia… clichés… whatever…
I was surfing through multiply when I saw a blog entitled To Date or Not to Date?
The article on this blog was basically taking about the book of Joshua Harris I Kissed Dating Goodbye. Apparently, according to this article, dating is solely there for the purpose of marriage. If dating is not for this purpose then kiss it goodbye.
Does dating necessarily have to end in marriage? I believe dating is there so that you could get to know each other and see if you have a connection which can eventually evolve in a relationship. But dating with marriage in mind is one scary thought I tell you...
I just can’t understand it.Somehow it feels that the premise of this statement is somehow based on love at first sight. You only date somebody that you believe you can spend the rest of your life with. How would you know that unless you go out on a date? Moreover, the decision to live with somebody for the rest of your life doesn’t even happen immediately.I personally subscribe to living together first. That is, as far as I’m concerned, the best way if you can stand each other’s idiosyncrasies on a daily basis; and if you live with that then you can decide whether or not you want to get married.
If all people would have marriage in their heads when dating I would definitely kiss dating goodbye... I mean it....
News:More female celebs are dating younger men.I think, yeah.I mean if they go out clubbing which I think they do, most of the men are like in their 20’s.Of course there are some men in their early to mid 30s but any age beyond the population is much lesser.
Funny though, here they are going out with younger men and yet, I would prefer to go out with someone older. Is it because younger men are able to satisfy the sexual need of an older woman which peaks at about mid-30s to 40s? Is it because younger women are looking for some security to the uncertain future that they have that they look for someone older?Hmm…. Surely I shall share with you more of my thoughts….
I have finally watched Iron Man.I have to say Robert Downey Jr.’s talent is impeccable.Granted the character of Tony Stark is not that challenging but the manner in which Robert Downey played the part added a little bit of trueness to an otherwise 2 dimensional character.
Okay maybe he’s not that 2 dimensional but Tony Stark is pretty much the stereotype wealthy guy who is a ladies’ man as well. The only difference is that he’s a geek.He has been called a child protégé and in his adulthood he has created numerous technologies especially in the field of weaponry.Furthermore, later on in his Iron Man career he becomes an alcoholic. So much so that he loses Stark Industries, Iron Man and becomes a vagrant in the streets. But like all heroes he will eventually get back on his feet and get back everything that he owned.
Iron Man in the comic book has had so many adaptations to meet the different issues of the world.Initially, Iron Man was battling the communists in Vietnam, then the plot revolved around the Gulf War then Afghanistan.
The movie was made as a combination of both the Old Iron Man and the new ones. The only problem I find in this movie is the length of time that they dedicated to the origin of Iron Man.More than half of the story focused on how Tony Stark was a playboy and was captured by the enemy. This experience made him see the error of his ways and in captivity he creates the Iron Man suit to escape.
Maybe I’m such a comic snob in that sense that if you’re going to watch a show like this, wouldn’t it be better to acquaint yourself with the origin of the character so that the producers can just move on and go to the juicier, action filled story of Iron Man.No… this will never happen. They did this even with the remake of Superman and honestly the Christopher Reeves version should have been enough as a backgrounder.Granted this was made more than 20 years ago, but still…. Too much time is dedicated to the origins that the excitement of the adventures of these comic book characters is not properly portrayed.I bet the same thing will happen with Batman (the origin of Joker) and The Incredible Hulk.
Be that as it may, I still think that Iron Man is one of the better superheroes in the comic book world – the best being Batman. As you can see these characters are normal people who used their intelligence and resources to become a super hero. It’s not like Superman or Wonder woman who are like supernaturals. The fact that Tony Stark is a human makes Iron Man far more admirable and inspirational.
Initially I was surprised that Robert Downey Jr. chose a project like Iron Man – Iron Man being a show for kids and of that o a comic book character. I mean, Robert Downey is a very choosy actor. He normally chooses projects that would challenge his talent and here he is all of a sudden doing Iron Man.But then as I mentioned earlier, Tony Stark loses his path and becomes an alcoholic, something similar to the real life problems of Downey. So I can only assume this is not the last we’ll see of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. I believe there will be sequels. I hope so. How exciting!
A friend of mine from Asia came back to the US to take up her post graduate studies. It was so nice to see her again. She was an exchange student and she lived in our house. We were her host family and as she lived with us we truly treated her like family.I often introduce her as my Asian sister.
We’ve kept in touch through e-mail and chatting but it’s different when she’s actually present.I missed her so much.Defintiely, the weeks to come will be so fun-filled and exciting.
In England there is a full sized beauty pageant. That means we shall see beautiful full bodied woman walking the cat walk.Heading this is model Chloe Marshall.I think it’s about time that they did come out with a full bodied beauty pageant.I think a lot of full bodied women are beautiful.I am not full bodied but one of my idols is my sister who weighs about 170lbs.But with her girth she is one of the most beautiful women I know.Part of her beauty is the fact that she is so comfortable in her skin and this can be seen in the confidence that she projects.I just love her and it’s about time that women like my sister are allowed to showcase their beauty.
There’s a whole lot of talk about Miley Cyrus and her controversial picture. All this talk however gives Annie Leibovitz free advertising if she needed to be more famous which honestly she doesn’t need.
In sense, I do not deny the fact that took the pictures for Art’s sake as she is truly an artist.Even John Lennon’s naked picture with Yoko Ono was artistically done. And although she is only 15 years-old the picture that Leibovitz took on an artistic level was quite good.Whether or not it was morally correct to have used a 15 year old model for young kids for such an evocative picture is not the issue that I’m trying to bring forth. All I am saying is that same picture was very well done and Leibovitz has surely used numerous actors and actresses to create the photographic art that she does.
In Miley Cyrus’ picture the color contrast – the blackness of her hair in contrast to the whiteness of her skin – creates a beautifully gothic-like picture of a young girl.Miley looked like a young vampire even. But then that’s not how most people see it….
Just so that you can appreciate more of Leibovitz artistic talent, here are some more of the pictures that she has done….
It’s a done deal.Jimmy Fallon will be replacing Conan O’ Brien for Late Night while Conan replaces Jay Leno for the Tonight Show…. While David Letterman remains with the Late Show…..
There was a big controversy sometime back because of Jay Leno and David Letterman for the Tonight Show but thank god there won’t be any of that when Leno leaves the show….
Yes, I like Jimmy Fallon. He’s funny in Saturday Night Live.As a matter of fact, the funniest comedians came from Saturday Night Live. He started in Saturday Night Live in 1998 and has been a mainstay ever since. His more known characters in SNL are Jarret, the student who owns his own webcam show; Nick Burns, a tech support representative and Joey Mack, an assholic DJ among others. Nevertheless, I do not doubt that Fallon may have a difficult time at first.Conan is one hard act to follow and we know that even Conan had a hard time in the beginning. He literally had to make his own personality different from the others. Will Fallon be able to do well?
We’ll see… but definitely I find him cuter than Conan which is a plus for him….
God works in funny ways. Last Friday, Matt and I had an argument and he has refused to talk to me since then.
Saturday night, I was with my friends just letting loose and pretty much talking about Matt. As we were leaving our joint, I bump into Ricky. I don't really know Ricky that well but we do hang around the same place so he's a familiar face. His group of firends and my group of friends ended up hanging around.
Since then he has been calling me and paying attention to me. Initially, i foudn it bothersome as I was having problems with Matt. However, his persistence, sweetness and gallantry cannot be ignored any further. Quite impressive actually.... we'll see what happens....
T shirts have had a long history that most people seem to take for granted. It was initially used as an undergarment in Western Europe.During the Industrial Revolution mass production became possible and more t shirts were made.
By the 20th century, people were no longer wearing t shirts as an undergarment.Due to the heat and its comfort it became an outer garment and from this time on, t shirts became a fashion statement.
Designers started making unique designs on t shirts and if not they put their logos on the t shirts which signified how fashionable and trendy you are.It also served as a free advertisement for the designer as every where the wearer went the logo went with him.
Now t shirts have evolved into something further than just an ad or a statement that you belong to the in crowd – it has evolved into a way to express yourself. It has been such a controversial way of expressing oneself that schools sometimes suspend or even ban their students from coming to school because of the slogans that are written on the students’ t-shirts.
These slogans normally express what the people are feeling or their particular standpoint. Some are political and others just plain nasty.Others are humorous and others are sexual.T-shirts are more than just they used to be.However, it is still imperative that you are able to choose the right slogan to wear on your shirt as whatever it is that’s written there is a representation of whom you are. These are my top 10 t-shirt slogans…. I wonder can you tell me what kind of person I am after…..
Here are 10 slogans that will represent properly and make other people’s day a brighter one.
1.A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand. – This is perfect for those who may be chastised for being “full bodied.”It is quite balanced.
2.All men are animals, some just make better pets. – To the women out there…. Wouldn’t you just want to wear this on your nice rounded chest?
3.Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else. – Yeah, right….
4.Always try to be modest, and be damn proud of it!Definitely, being modest is a virtue and you should stand tall and be proud of it.
5.Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder. – This is so true. Beer helps us all see the light of beauty.
6.BEER…Helping ugly people get laid since 1842! – See how good and charitable beer is to the less fortunate?
7.I'd like to see it from your viewpoint, but I can't get my head that far up my ass – Right on!
8.If I wanted to hear from an asshole, I’d fart – this is a variation of number 7.
9.Bros before Hoes – well okay…this is a bit political. The slogan comes with Obama’s pic and Clinton’s pic… but I had to put at least one political slogan?
10.You're just jealous because the voices only talk to me! – Yeah… there are a lot of envious people out there….
Would you rather put some serious phrases on your shirt?Yeah… I bet you thought I was serious with all that history stuff didn’t you... but hey….look, life is short… make a statement now… show who you are with your t-shirt slogan…and wear it proud on your chest… can you think of any slogan better than these?
Have you heard of the movie Where in the world is Osama Bin Laden?Well it was release last 18th and honestly, I do not know whether ornot I’m going to watch it.
I’ve seen the trailer and it is showing in AMC but I don’t know what to make of it.It seems like a very big joke.I have half the mind of putting up an online competition… I just don’t know what the topic should be…how about an online completion about the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden or better yet, the most ridiculous film ever made?
It is quite unbelievable sometimes how people are so unwilling to accept change.
There is an ongoing controversy about multinational brands entering the Tibetan area of China.Apparently, the Olympic torch will be brought all the way to Tibet and Tibetans are going on a protest saying that the Olympic torch which symbolizes the Olympics with its Western sponsors may corrupt the very essence of the Tibetan way of life.
With the Olympics comes tourism and with its sponsors come investment which will help the Chinese economy. So what’s the deal?
There is nothing wrong with hanging on to tradition and the classical way of life… but should you stop change as well? Even if it’s for the country’s benefit?
China used to be called the sleeping Giant. It is a giant but it is not sleeping anymore…. And some of its people are trying to stop it from getting up because of fear…. Fear of change…
